We are helping to support our local units by creating a way for people to purchase Angel memberships online.  This fund will be used to help with expenses associated with our online sales.  

Each year, available funds are spent to give car seats and safety training to families that could not otherwise afford a car seat.  Principals and counselors determine families in need and communicate these needs to the Council Chair for Health & Safety.

The RISD Council of PTAs supports the 55 local unit PTAs at RISD schools.  Monies from this fund may be used for the following:
-Texas Summer Leadership Seminar Scholarships for local unit PTA leaders
-PTA leadership training for local unit PTA leaders
-Unifying and strengthening local unit PTAs
-Assistance in the formation of new local PTAs

The RISD Council of PTAs Christa McAuliffe Memorial Fund allows for hospitality for Christa McAuliffe Learning Center staff and faculty-led PTAs. The RISD Council of PTAs coordinates support for Christa McAuliffe Learning Center because of its always changing enrollment. 

Donations will be used to purchase needed items for the Clothes Closet.  Students are confidentially referred to the Clothes Closet by a teacher, nurse or counselor at their school. When students arrive for their hour-long appointments, they select clothing assisted by a volunteer. Students may be referred once per school year and leave with a week’s worth of clothing including a new pair of sneakers, winter coat, toiletry bag and new sets of underwear and socks.

This fund allows the Council Executive Board to have available funds for emergency medical needs of the students of RISD.

Joseph Jones Pearce served as RISD superintendent from 1946 to 1977. Dr. Pearce died in September of 1995, but his devotion to the education of Richardson youth continues through the memorial scholarship fund.

RISD Council of PTAs Scholarship Committee receives and reviews applications each spring for:

• Graduating senior scholarships for those attending 4-year institutions
• Teacher scholarships for those enrolled in higher education or seeking training through workshops/seminars 

Student scholarships are awarded on scholastic record, character, extra-curricular activities and financial need.

Teacher scholarship application requires employment by the RISD for one full academic year prior to application and continued employment in the district the following year.
